When I submitted my manuscript for the very first time, I was overjoyed to receive a promising response from Pegasus UK showing interest in my novel. However, it sounded too good to be true so I researched this publisher's website and quickly discovered that writers would have to pay about 5k pounds to be published. Though further research I learned about vanity presses and "preditors versus editors." I was approached later by a couple of such presses, but by that time I learned enough about these scams. Wish I had listened to this podcast while writing my first novel. I would have been able to recognize these scammers more easily. Some writers are so desperate to get published that they do not mind paying for the service even when they are aware what it is all about. Jana Begovich
